FAQs

Do you accept walk-ins?

We accept walk-ins where availability allows, but tattoos are by appointment only in most cases – we strongly advise booking ahead to secure your preferred artist and time. Piercings can often be done on a walk-in basis, but booking is still recommended to avoid disappointment, especially evenings and weekends. We are open 7 days a week.

How do tattoo consultations work?

Consultations are free and take place in person at the studio – you’ll meet your chosen artist, discuss your design ideas, references, placement, size and budget. The artist will advise on design, flow and suitability, and give you a price estimate. If you can’t visit, we can provide a rough guide by email or phone, but a final quote is only given after an in-person chat.

How much is the deposit?

A non‑refundable deposit is required to book your tattoo slot – the amount varies based on the size and estimated time of your piece, and is deducted from your final total cost. Deposits secure your artist’s time and are not refundable if you cancel with less than 48 hours’ notice or fail to show up.

What payment methods do you accept?

At the studio we accept cash only for all services and products. Tattoo deposits can be paid via our website – please ask for details during your consultation. Gift vouchers are available to buy in person or online.

What identification is required?

Valid, physical government‑issued photo ID is mandatory for all clients, no exceptions – this includes passports, driving licences, or national ID cards. If you are under 18, you must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who must also show their own ID; additional proof of relationship may be requested.

What are your minimum ages for each piercing?
  • Ear lobes: 12 + (with parent/guardian consent and ID)

  • Most facial and body piercings: 16+ (with parent/guardian consent and ID)

  • Navel (belly) piercing: 14+ (with parent/guardian consent and ID)

  • Nipple and intimate piercings: 18+ only Consent and ID checks apply strictly – we reserve the right to refuse service where documentation is incomplete or unclear. A full list of prices and ages is available on our piercing page.

How do you maintain high standards of hygiene?

At Plan 9 Ealing, hygiene and client safety are our highest priorities. We follow strict infection prevention procedures to provide a clean and safe environment for every client

  • All artists complete annual infection prevention and control training

  • Every workstation is completely dismantled, cleaned and disinfected between clients

  • All work surfaces, treatment areas and high-touch points are sanitised using hospital-grade disinfectant throughout the day

  • Floors are cleaned and disinfected daily

  • All needles are sterile, single-use and disposed of safely after every procedure

  • Single-use consumables are never reused

  • All reusable equipment is cleaned, sterilised and processed in our autoclave before use

  • Artists wear fresh disposable gloves and change them whenever contamination could occur

  • Barrier protection is used on equipment and replaced between every client

  • Our autoclave is routinely tested to verify effective sterilisation

What jewellery materials do you use?

We only use implant‑grade titanium (ASTM F‑136) – all hypoallergenic, nickel‑free and safe for fresh piercings. We do not allow outside jewellery to be used for new piercings for hygiene and safety reasons.

How should customers prepare for an appointment?
  • Eat a proper meal and stay hydrated beforehand

  • Get a good night’s sleep and avoid alcohol or blood‑thinning drugs 24 hours before

  • Wear comfortable, loose clothing that gives easy access to the area being worked on

  • Bring all required ID and any reference images you want to show

  • Arrive on time – late arrivals may need to be rescheduled

  • For tattoos, do not shave the area. - the artist will do that at the appointment

What aftercare is provided?

We give you full, printed aftercare instructions tailored to your tattoo or piercing, plus advice from your artist/piercer. We stock recommended aftercare products including sterile saline sprays and gentle cleansers – our team will show you exactly how and when to use them. We’re also happy to answer follow‑up questions anytime during your healing process.

Do you offer cover‑ups and tattoo reworking?

Yes – we specialise in cover‑ups, reworks and re‑colouring. Bring your existing tattoo in to a consultation; our artists will assess its size, depth and colour, then design something that works with or completely covers it. Some tattoos may need a few sessions of lazer removal or light fading first – we’ll be honest about what’s achievable.

Is there parking or step‑free access?

There is on‑street parking nearby and paid car parks within walking distance. Our studio is on the ground floor with step‑free access and wide doorways – please let us know if you have any specific access needs so we can help make your visit comfortable.

Which nearby areas do you serve?

We’re based in South Ealing and welcome clients from Ealing, Acton, Chiswick, Brentford, Hanwell, West Ealing, Perivale, Greenford, Northolt, Shepherd’s Bush and surrounding West London areas – plus further afield by arrangement.
